Cheap 😉 Vintage Used Vintage French Table Knives Carbon Steel Ebony Acier Fondu Late 19th Early 20th C ✨

Forged and hand ground carbon steel table knives marked simply ‘Acier Fondu Garanti’ – Cast Steel Guarantee with nickle ferrules and carved ebony handles. With original box. 

Only one crack in handles, and one small chip, blades had seen some rust but have been cleaned. With original box, which shows wear.

Carbon steel knives like this can get very sharp and cut very nicely but are not stainless and extra care is required, if you are used to stainless steel table knives you will realize why people exchanged the superior cutting ability of carbon steel for the then inferior stainless in return for easier maintenance. 

Like all other culinary knives this should never go in the dishwasher, carving knife handles will come loose with high heat (dishwasher, stove top etc), carbon steel can rust if left wet or dirty, expect a patina to form with use.
