“Tenugui” are a type of traditional Japanese towel dating back to the Nara Period (710-794 AD). They have a smooth texture and silkscreen patterning that is unlike typical Western terrycloth towels. They have a variety of uses outside of the kitchen, being used as headwear, scarfs, place mats, gift wrapping and wall decor.
