The Saint-Bernard design is a nod to alpine tradition and legend.  It is named for Bernard of Menthon, who also inspired the name for the infamous rescue dog and established the hospice in a perilous pass between Switzerland and Italy.  This knife is a humble representation of endurance and strength.

Fontenille Pataud is a small family business located in Thiers, in the beautiful Auvergne region in France. Thiers is world famous for its manufacturing of knives and cutlery.

They are well known for their Laguiole style knives, but other regional styles including the Vendetta (from Corsica), Yssingeaux, Saint-Bernard, and Basque knives.
