Vintage Ulster Knife Co. barehead jack (two blades on their own springs at the same pin, with a bolster at the pin side only). Knives with this general marking were made in Ellenville NY from 1876 to 1941, a long time span, the style of the knife, the grinding and the type face on the stamp suggest earlier manufacture. A handsome old jack knife here, very emblematic of a type of good quality work knife made in the North East.ย
Carbon steel blades, iron liners and bolsters and rosewood hafts. The nail nick for the main blade is a little hard to get to and has been re-tipped as about 1/16โ of it was broken off when found. Blades are very full otherwise and mechanically excellent.ย
Most vintage pocket knives come unsharpened unless specified or requested.
